This Privacy Policy explains what information SortMC collects, how we use it, and what choices you have when using our website and related services.

2. Information We Collect

Account data provided via Clerk authentication, such as your account identifier and profile details you choose to expose.
Server listing data you submit, including server addresses, edition, descriptions, media URLs, social links, Votifier settings, language, and country metadata.
Community activity data such as votes, favourites, reviews, replies, and abuse reports.
Voting-related anti-abuse data, including Minecraft username, normalized username, IP/network data, timestamps, and target server.
Server-owner API data, including API key usage logs, endpoint access, and IP address used for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
Status and analytics data, including server uptime/player history, page-view counts, and server IP-copy interaction counts.
Technical/device data such as headers, browser user-agent, IP-derived signals, and diagnostic logs used for performance and security.

3. How We Use Information

To operate core features such as listing management, voting, search, reviews, reporting, and account-linked favourites.
To prevent fraud and abuse, including cooldown checks, anti-bot verification, and rate limiting.
To run moderation and safety workflows, including handling reports and enforcing site rules.
To measure usage and improve reliability, discoverability, and product features.
To communicate operational, legal, and policy updates when required.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies or similar storage for authentication and site functionality, plus local storage for preferences (for example, theme). We use analytics tools including PostHog and Umami. For regions where consent is required, a cookie banner is shown and analytics consent can be accepted or declined.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use third-party providers to operate specific features:

Clerk for authentication and account management.
UploadThing for server image uploads.
Cloudflare Turnstile for anti-bot verification on selected actions.
PostHog and Umami for analytics and product insights.
OpenRouter (and model providers routed through it) when you use AI assistance features such as short-description generation.

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

6. Data Retention

Server status history used for uptime/player graphs is retained for the most recent 7 days.
API usage log entries are regularly cleaned and currently kept on a short rolling window used for hourly rate limiting.
Other account, listing, moderation, and analytics records are kept as needed to operate the Service, enforce rules, and meet legal obligations.

7. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers described above and may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect users, SortMC, and the public from fraud, abuse, or security threats.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You can control analytics consent where presented through the cookie banner.
You can update or remove listing content from your account controls.
You can request account/data deletion support through our contact channels, subject to legal and abuse-prevention retention needs.

9. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect data, but no system is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys.

10. Children's Privacy

SortMC is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. The date at the top of this page shows when this policy was last revised.
